Brian holds a Culinary Arts Degree from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. His comprehensive and fundamental understanding of proper food preparation in combination with his exceptional culinary skills have earned him the title of Executive Chef at several large establishments. As Executive Chef at The Balanced Chef, he is committed to providing customers only meals that meet his expectations, and that he would eat himself.
Matthew holds a Master’s Degree in Science from Albany Medical College and is a registered Physician Assistant. Throughout his college career he gained extensive knowledge of human nutrition and its role in health maintenance and disease prevention. He developed a passion for sharing his knowledge and experiences with others- and food became the vehicle of this passion.
Cynthia is a Registered Dietitian and holds a Master’s Degree in Nutrition from the State University of New York at Oneonta, where she completed her dietetic internship. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She specializes in weight management and preventive care. She has experience in clinical dietetics as well as private practice counseling. As a fitness enthusiast with a passion for good food she plays an integral role in product development.
Ken is currently a senior at SUNY College at Oneonta studying Nutrition & Dietetics. He has a special interest in clinical nutrition, and has been accepted as a dietetic intern through SUNY Oneonta’s Combined Masters Program in the upcoming spring. Joining The Balanced Chef as our intern dietician was a way for Ken to combine his passion for nutrition, fitness, health, and serving others. He has been instrumental in helping formulate healthy meals to add to our menu.
Melanie holds a Master's degree from Florida State University in Humanities with a minor in English and Creative Writing. She currently works in Marketing, as a Product Marketing Specialist, and conducts extensive research on product positioning using the new Inbound Marketing methodology. Melanie is a certified Yoga instructor, an avid CrossFitter and an adventure enthusiast. Working with The Balanced Chef was the perfect way to combine her professional background with her passion for living a healthy lifestyle, and focusing on clean eating and nutrition.
How do I place an order?
Choose from our weekly menu and select a convenient pick up location from our list. Orders must be placed by Noon Tuesday, for delivery the following Monday. We do our best to ensure all deliveries are made by noon each Monday, though delivery times may vary. Please contact us if you would like to know the approximate delivery time for your location.
What days of the week do you deliver?
Currently delivery is limited to Monday only. However, our meals will stay fresh under refrigeration for 5-7 days. As we grow additional delivery days will be added.
How long do the meals stay fresh?
Our meals do not contain any preservatives and will stay fresh under refrigeration for 5-7 days, depending on the meal. All meals are dated for your convenience. All our meals can be frozen to extend shelf life. Frozen meals should be eaten within 3-4 weeks, but since our meals are meant to be consumed within the use date, quality and taste may vary over time if frozen.
How do I reheat my meals?
Each meal comes with reheat instructions. The typical reheat time is 1:30-2:00 in the microwave. Some are also served cold.
How do I find out what is in the meals?
All meals come with an ingredient list. This information is also available on our website.
What if I have a food allergy?
While the meals come with an ingredient list, they are prepared in a facility that uses common allergens including nuts and gluten. If you have a specific concern please feel free to email us.
